Animal’s response to vaccination
Animals undergo mild reactions but the immune system is stimulated to produce long-term (usually life-long)
protection against the disease.
Development of immunity
8 weeks after vaccination
Recommendations for use
Cattle of any age can be vaccinated, but it is best to vaccinate animals at 3-9 months of age when there is little
risk of reactions to the vaccines. The risk of reactions is greater when vaccinating adult cattle, especially bulls
and pregnant cows, and they should be closely observed during reaction periods.
Directions for use
An instruction leaflet is provided with each order of Combavac 3 in 1.
Delivery
As part of our service, we will organise the delivery of vaccine for you. Liquid nitrogen is classed as a dangerous
good which place restrictions on transport. Air transport is used to deliver frozen vaccine consignments overseas.
Clients need to purchase in addiction from us liquid nitrogen and tanks. Frozen vaccine is only despatched on a
Friday and your order is required to be placed no later than 4.00 pm on the Thursday for it to be despatched the
following day.
First Aid and Safety Directions
Strains of tick fever used in the Australian tick fever vaccines are not known to be infective
for humans.
However, the following people may be at increased risk after self-injection:
- elderly persons
- persons with weakened immune systems (e.g. persons whose immune system has been altered by diseases such as
leukaemia or lymphoma, or through drugs and radiation, or HIV or AIDS sufferers)
- persons whose spleen has been removed.
If accidental self-injection occurs, seek medical advice.
Additional Information
Technical specifications
The specifications contain detailed technical descriptions of vaccines, production methods and quality-control
testing procedures. This information is particularly relevant to researchers, laboratory staff, and government
authorities in Australia and overseas who require a thorough understanding of the vaccines and their quality.
Vaccines
Tick fever vaccines are the most reliable and practical tools for long-term control of the disease in cattle.
Australian beef and dairy producers alike benefit from vaccinating animals to minimise the risk of deaths and lost
production to the disease.
Vaccines are available in a number of different forms - the choice depends on your circumstances and the
benefits you want.
A range of products are available from us for vaccinating, monitoring and treating cattle.
